The new requirements that the role of university teachers calls for require analyses that include new variables and methodological approaches. This is particularly true in a context in which diversification and the mass increase in access to higher education give rise to a unique and novel historical process. The paper addresses the participation (in figures) of women university teachers and the specific features of their experience in academia. It puts forward questions and challenges that must be faced in order to improve professional careers in academia, with gender equity as one of the facts to be considered.Downloads
