Food and its importance for nutrition has reached an outstanding place in the national context due to the part it plays in public health and in non traditional exportations. This paper pretends to settle the issue in the national and world surrounding and, thus, contribute to the public debate as to how should Chile develop a coherent strategy in the scientific and technological environment in order for it to pay attention to the national and international challenges that the food subject has to face.Downloads
