Implementation, certification and monitoring of management systems (QMS) under ISO 9001 represent a great challenge for higher education institutions. Considering that one of the significant contributions of ISO 9001 is the design of a QMS based on principles of quality management, it is expected to generate a radical transformation, a new way of doing things in order to satisfy user or customer needs. This research is intended to know whether the implementation and certification of a QMS is used as a valuable tool for achieving quality improvement in higher education or it is used to simply fulfill the requirement of public policy.Downloads
