This article discusses the quality of initial teacher training in Chile according to the results of an online survey applied to 890 beginning primary teachers, graduates from 23 higher education institutions and 232 employers. It considers their comments and opinions and defines differences due to the selectivity of the training programs and the context where teachers begin working. At national level, education quality and teacher performance are in question, however findings show a high satisfaction about education quality. The selectivity of education programs and the working context are differentiated training weaknesses.
