The question about the impact of accreditation processes has attracted great attention in debates on quality assurance (QA) in higher education. In light of empirical evidence and specialized literature, this question has not an easy answer. In this paper, we propose that diverse considerations must be taken into account for the accreditation impact thorough analysis. We also make suggestions on the subject particularly applicable into the national context. In any case, the enormous interest for recognizing and promoting quality assurance impact in Chile should take into account that richness of accreditation rests upon genuine exercise of processes needed to strengthen our higher education.Downloads
