Contemporary higher education is in a process of changes that includes dynamics such as mass enrolment, institutional expansion, growth of the private sector, and the development of mechanisms for quality assurance. This article studies the interaction of such trends in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay and focuses on the impact of quality assurance on private higher education, limiting its proliferation and, at the same time, promoting its legitimacy.Downloads
