Distance Education is a teaching method that, from the beginning, has been linked to individuals who need to acquire knowledge but who, for different reasons, do not have access to class-room education. At present, thanks to the progress in information technology and the growing need for access to ongoing knowledge, the potential of this teaching method has been enhanced. The educational impact of distance education has yet to be seen. There are several experiences but the data available is scarce and therefore it is difficult to determine, in quantitative terms, the real extent of this type of education. Conversely, it is evident that centers offering distance courses have increased all over the world in number and diversity;moreover, the quantity of students interested in this type of education is growing increasingly.
