The current article invites to size the key role of university teachers in training future professionals. To that end, this discussion takes two topics as priority a) redefine the university teachers as "university trainers" - experts on a specific disciplinary contributing to others' formation, b) the way the university teachers learn to teach their disciplinary expertise. Finally, it discusses implications of these issues both for teaching and learning as well as policy decision making for the professional training in higher education.
