Never before in human history has education been as important as it is now. The technical and scientific civilization on which our world is currently based requires calls for extensive education. In the last 40 years, Chile has made great efforts to renew and improve its education system. This is evidenced by the major educational reform implemented during the administration of former President Eduardo Frei Montalva, the Higher Education Law enacted in 1980, the programs implemented to foster scientific research in addition to the current reform which is intended to modernize teaching methods and equip schools with state of the art media and technology. This has produced deep changes, particularly quantitative ones. Therefore, it is imperative to improve the quality of education which should be a task of top priority for the State. However, we are fully aware that we cannot expect everything from the State. Society at large is responsible for education and this means that education is a collective responsibilityDownloads
